Goodbye Backyardigans

My son had a toy we got from a thrift store for like a buck or something. We got home and put batteries in it and found my son loved this toy. It was by far one of the most annoying toys in the world to me. It was a backyardigans boombox/karaoke machine type thing for infants. I would not have known who they were except the name Backyardigans was on the toy itself. There was a song on this thing that would creep me and my family out when Junior would hit the right button.

It was talking about a tower of power holding the key to the world. My wife and I looked up this song online and found out that the toy only played a clip of the full song. The full song was about the goal of bringing in an evil world empire. We decided the toy had to go. We did not want stuff like that influencing our child. Lucky for us Junior is still a little too young to get upset over losing it. He actually has just as much fun with a used egg carton. My wife wanted us to remove the batteries and throw it away. I had a better idea. The toy had to go just like Earl from that Dixie Chicks song “Good Bye Earl”.

Goodbye Backyardigans!

Goodbye Backyardigans!

We removed the batteries and as you can see I axed it. My wife was in support and took the pictures of me doing it for this blog. I was surprised at how well it was made. It took a couple of swings to chop it in half. I was expecting it to shatter in one swing. It just cut where the ax landed. I know most of you are probably thinking this was over kill and I over reacted. I admit it was over kill and it would have been easier to toss it in the trash instead of axing it and having to clean up the pieces afterwards.

We decided: The Backyardigans Toy had to die! Goodbye Backyardigans!

We decided: The Backyardigans Toy had to die! Goodbye Backyardigans!

I want to provide the lyrics for educational purposes. Since I am using this for education I can use it under the Fair Use Act. Then I shall conclude this message.

Key to the World
From Race to the Tower of Power. Sung to the tune of “Three Blind Mice”.

Pablo and Tyrone: Key to the World
The Key to the World
In the Tower of Power
In the Tower of Power

Tyrone: If we get the Key we’ll win,
Our evil empire will begin,
We won’t let the superheroes in-

Both: -to the Tower of Power
The Tower of Power
Wa-ha-ha-ha-haaa

Pablo: The Tower of Power is very tall,
And up in the top is the Key.

Tyrone: (The Key!)
We’ll find it, and grab it,
And keep it, and have it,
And rule the world you and me.

Pablo: Key to the World
The Key to the World
In the Tower of Power
In the Tower of Power

Tyrone: Let’s hurry now and grab it quick,
So we can fill the world with ick.
The superheroes they make me sick!

Both: To the Tower of Power
The Tower of Power

I see a connection to the Tower of Babel in this song. Most people do not realize that the Tower of Babel was more than just a really tall tower that God hated. It was meant as an occult device to summon demons and bring in an evil world empire to destroy what God made. This is the stuff that is left out of Sunday school because speaking about occult devices in any realistic context is very much taboo in the castrated 501(c)3 church.

Looking at the history of Nimrod who was probably part nephilim anyway, was obsessed with ascending to the throne of God. God understood that no matter how many layers Nimrod added there was no way he would physically reach heaven. God understood this tower was dangerous and would enable them to do anything and knew it must be destroyed. He did not view it as a silly endeavor that would boy pointless in the long run. He understood the need to split the languages and scatter the people to prevent something like this from happening. Simply tearing the thing down would have only delayed the inevitable.

Genesis 11:6  KJV “6 And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.”

Look at the wording and you will understand that this was more than adding layers and more than evil intent. It was a tower of power that would enable them to do anything they pleased and anything they imagined. It was to summon the power of Satan. Literally a tower of power to bring in an evil world empire.

In conclusion: It is not ridiculous to wish to not have toys like that in the house when we take an honest look at the Holy Scriptures. It might have been a bit ridiculous to ax the thing but it was much more fun. Plus it is able to bring a message about from this event in our life. I just hope the majority of my christian readers take something from this message. The message I hope people take is to be aware of what influences is in your child’s life and remove the negative ones and replace them with positive ones.

Let's go out to the lake Backyardigans Toy! Goodbye Toy!
